The running count
Cribbage hands are traditionally counted aloud as the score climbs. This follows the engine’s event order.
Why crib mode matters
A four-card flush scores in a regular hand. In the crib, all four crib cards and the starter must share a suit, so the toggle can change the result.
What it does not add
The starter being a jack—his heels—is two points for the dealer before pegging. It is not part of the five-card hand total shown here.
